Learning Approach

Graduation Celebration Moment

UW Haring & Early Achievers

Building Next Generation Leaders

At Discovery Child Care, we’re honored to be rated Level 3 by Washington’s Early Achievers program, in collaboration with the University of Washington Haring Center. While participation in this quality improvement system is not required for programs like ours, we choose to engage because we truly care about giving children the strongest start possible.

Early Achievers has helped us grow by offering thoughtful feedback and guidance in areas like:

  • Creating nurturing, well organized classrooms that support every child’s development

  • Building strong relationships between teachers and children

  • Partnering closely with families to support learning at home and school

  • Encouraging professional growth for our staff so we can keep learning too

The values between Early Achievers & UW go hand in hand with our STEAM inspired approach to learning. We introduce children to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math in joyful, hands on ways through music, stories, building, painting, exploring nature, and asking big questions. It’s not about pushing academics early, it’s about encouraging curiosity, creativity, and problem solving in a way that feels natural and fun for young minds.

We’re always learning and growing right alongside the children in our care. And while we’re proud of the steps we’ve taken, we know that what matters most is how your child feels each day—seen, supported, and excited to learn. That’s the heart of what we do.

Partnering with parents

At Discovery Child Care, we believe that strong partnerships between parents and providers are essential to building an inclusive and effective learning environment. When parents are actively involved, it extends learning beyond the classroom, supports children’s overall development, and contributes to more positive and successful early learning experiences.

Here are a few ways our team supports parents in their parenting journey:

  • Maintaining consistent daily routines to support children’s emotional security and growth

  • Encouraging parent feedback on lesson plans and learning goals to ensure cultural and developmental relevance

  • Welcoming parents into the classroom to observe, engage, and get to know our teachers and learning approach

  • Providing daily progress reports through a secure communication platform that allows parents to stay informed about their child’s day, milestones, and developmental updates in real time

Through these efforts, we aim to build a trusting and collaborative relationship with every family—because when we work together, children flourish.
